Description: Students will discover how ecosystems encompass a community of living and non-living things and their interdependency. Woodland, rainforest, desert, grasslands, and pond ecosystems will be explored using live animals. Concepts covered: predator, prey, producers, consumers and decomposers, ecosystems, habitats, niches, and interdependency.

Description: Students will conduct investigations of different simple and compound machines through hands-ons activities and experiments. Our scavenger hunt requires map reading skills as you look for simple machines on our farm. We recommend this trip as a conclusion to a simple machines unit of study.

Description: Students will explore the different ways animals survive the winter. This field trip will cover hibernation, migration, adaptation, camouflage, and mimicry. Observation of live animals will be provided by Wildlife Ambasadors. Part of the trip will be also be outside, so dress warm.

Description: Students will learn how energy flows through a food chain and webs. Photosynthesis, producers, consumers, decomposers, herbivores, carnivores, omnivores, predators, prey, and scavengers of various ecosystems will be addressed. Students will investigate a food chain by dissecting owl pellets. Live animals will be provided for informational encounters by Wildlife Ambassadors.
Note: If owl pellet dissection is not preferred, and alternative activity can be provided with a fee of $8.00 per student.

Description: Students will conduct investigations of various conifer and broad leaf evergreens using actual plant samples. This information will help students identify types of evergreens during a scavenger hunt on the farm.
